Bio Ceramic Rings:
These ceramic rings are a type of biological filter media.
They are used for keeping your bacteria colony to convert ammonia from waste to nitrites and nitrites to nitrates. Both ammonia and nitrites are poisoning to fish.
This ½”x ½” size bio ceramic ring is extremely porous and provides large amount of surface area for the beneficial bacteria to nestle into and live. The ceramic rings have a lot of surface area, so are good for your biological filter. They are best in a place where much of the tank water gets to flow over them, usually in a canister filter. They help control the ammonia and nitrite levels and are great for use in both fresh and saltwater aquariums.
